About Fundraising

The Need For Fundraising…

Guest Conductors, New Instruments, Leading Edge Music Compositions and Sectional Technicians are just a few reasons why it’s important to participate in the fundraising activities that support the Harrison High Band Boosters.  While fees cover approximately 50% of the actual costs each year, it is through the fundraising efforts of every family, whether in Curricular Band Class or Marching Band, that allows the budget to balance. Each fundraiser has been designed for maximum potential and wherever possible a portion of your fundraising efforts benefit your student bucks account. Most of the fundraisers at HHBB have been designed so the student may learn a new skill and gain confidence in their ability to accept partial responsibility for ensuring their selected activity is financially possible.  A student’s participation in a fundraiser gives them a sense of achievement and ownership in the Band Program as a whole.

Earning Fundraising Credits to Reduce Fees

Many of our band fundraisers allow members to earn a percentage or amount from their participation that is applied to their band fee accounts.  Some fundraising programs will earn 100% credit for funds raised for the student’s band fee account. Generally, the percentage or dollar amount which can be applied toward band fees varies based on the fundraising program, and is announced when the program is launched.  The specific programs offered, the credits which can be earned and other details may change from year-to-year, based on availability and previous success. However, we’ve had families which earned 100% of their band fees through fundraising, and many others who reduced fees by 10-90% through fundraising.

Start Early, and Keep at It

Our top fundraising families participate in year-round activities, spreading out the effort and avoiding a feeling of time-crunch when band fees become due. RaiseRight (SCRIP) is one of our most popular year-round activities, with families earning rebates on every day purchases. The RH Events programs allow families to work together at local festivals, corporate events and similar activities, earning hourly rates for their efforts. Fundraising credits build up quickly when all qualifying family members participate. And our ever-popular Plant Sales and Barbeque Boston Butt Sales help you prepare your home and family for seasonal activities while reducing band fees.
