Show Recollections by our Band Alumni: Vesti la Giubba
Our Favorite Moment:
The company front in the last movement. — Alison (Brock) Sola
3rd (or…5th?) movement — half time company front recapitulation. Beautiful way to end a show. Also that part in the ballad where it jumps from pianissimo to like triple forte, so much fun. — Matthew Miller
The last double heart form in the ballad section before the last movement. So much passion and incredible music. 10 years later, I still get chills listening to it. — Anonymous
Most Difficult to Master and Perform:
The transition from movement 2B to 2C made me run down the back sideline, from the end zone to the 40 on the other side! — Alison (Brock) Sola
Jazz running is hard, if we played anything other than B flat quarter notes it would have been extra hard. — Matthew Miller
The last time we performed this show, I felt:
The show was so fun to perform and was a crowd favorite. Just like with every last show, I felt exhilarated and amazed that we had done it! — Alison (Brock) Sola
Well it was a decade ago (gosh if I feel this old I wonder how Mr Ray feels) but I felt good after every performance, this show was just GE for days and I loved it. — Matthew Miller
I cried. It was such a beautiful and fun show. From the unusual way we entered the field, the special moments for the soloists, the incredible music, and fun sets… it was just an amazing experience all around and I was so sad it was over. — Anonymous
My Most Memorable Performance:
BOA Indianapolis. The crowd loved our show! So many people stopped us walking around to tell us how much they enjoyed it.
Lucas Oil Stadium. 5th Place was the lowest result while I was at Harrison, but we made finals alongside Avon, Marion Catholic, and Carmel among other traditional Grand Nats champions. I remember feeling disappointed at first, but it soon felt like a pretty good accomplishment to me. Traded gloves with a kid on the field so that was cool. — Matthew Miller
Finals at Indianapolis Super Regionals. V gave a great speech in the warm-up room, and we truly did leave it all on the field that night. We were so thrilled to get 5th place with the other top bands known across the country. — Anonymous
