Harrison High School Marching Band Named 2018 Jacksonville State Regional Champion

Congratulations to the Marching Hoyas for being named Grand Champions of the 2018 Bands of America Jacksonville Regional! In addition, the Hoyas also won best overall general effect, tied for best musical performance, and placed first in their 3A class! This victory is the result of months of hard work, dedication, and a commitment to excellence!

The band performed its 2018 show “Electropolis,” the story of a world overrun by technology. Lead by Drum Majors Sara Kate Frost, Emily Zant, and Madelyn Tanner, this year’s show features music from film composer Ennio Morricone, pop artists Daft Punk, and classical composer Sergei Prokofiev.

“We are extremely proud of our Harrison Band community. The staff, parents, admin and especially the students helped in creating what was an absolutely spectacular set of performances this past weekend at BOA Jacksonville State. Our memories of these experiences are what we will take with us for the rest of our lives.” said Director of Bands Josh Ray.

The band began practicing their 2018 show during the summer months and have spent countless hours rehearsing and preparing for the competition.

“We’ve all been working on this for more than two months. It’s exciting for all of us to finally be able to reap the benefits of working so hard towards that common goal,” said Frost, a third-year drum major and Senior at Harrison High School.
