WHAT TO WEAR AT PRACTICE

  1. Gray Shirt (Blank, any generic shirt in gray)
    *Gray shirts (recommend 3) can be purchased at Walmart or even Amazon.
  2. Shorts (School appropriate, athletic, any color)
  3. Athletic Shoes (closed toed, comfortable, any color)
The band practices in grey t-shirts and shorts. T-shirts can be purchased through Required Wear or at other locations.

WHAT TO WEAR FOR MARCHING PERFORMANCE

On Friday nights and during competitions and other special events, students wear items under their uniforms to make for easy removal

Help students get in the habit of having Gray Performance Shirt, Blue Shorts, Black Gloves, Long Black Socks, and Black Super Drillmaster Shoes for Friday Games and all competitions.  This is called “GrayBlueBlack-BlackBlack.”

Many students stay at school on Fridays to get ready for the game and meals are provided for an extra cost for your convenience. Having the items your child needs to wear in a bag in their backpack the night before will help them remember to have everything they need.

Grey Performance Shirt

REQUIRED (worn under uniform)
Material Choices: 50/50 Poly Cotton mix – OR- Wick 100% Poly

Grey shirts worn under uniform.
These CAN be purchased through required wear.

Blue Performance Shorts

REQUIRED (worn under uniform)
Navy Blue Long Athletic, baggy shorts

Navy shorts worn under uniform.

Black Gloves

REQUIRED (worn with uniform)
All gloves must be ordered thru band. Woodwinds and Brass are required to have gloves (RECOMMEND 4-5 pair at least)

Percussion Does NOT wear gloves

Woodwinds wear FINGERLESS Gloves (2 Pair Pack)
(Lightweight 100% Nylon for easy movement and comfort with extra wrist length)

Brass wear Fingered Gloves (2 Pair Pack)
(100% cotton with ribbed back design. Extra length in wrists. Sizes XS,S,M,L,XL)

Black Super Drillmasters Marching Shoes

REQUIRED (worn with uniform)
Super Drillmasters Marching Shoes are required by marchers/percussion and must be ordered thru band. Guard have their own shoes that must be ordered thru guard. Freshman and students new to band should be sized on uniform fitting day, which is typically before or during the first week of band camp.

Super Drillmasters Marching Shoes are rolled-heel shoes for teaching corps style marching and feature Achilles Tendon/Heel Lock and athletic grade plush ankle collar that stabilizes, secures, and protests the foot.

Students will place Super Drillmasters Marching Shoes in an assigned cubby in shoe cabinet
located in band room.

Black Socks

REQUIRED (worn with uniform)
Long black socks are worn with Super Drillmasters Marching Shoes. Can purchase from us or from a vendor of your choice. Marchers have different preferences on sock thickness and material depending on how their shoes fit.

Performance Polo

REQUIRED for Band and Color Guard/Winter Guard students.

Soft with UV protection and moisture wicking. Worn as alternate uniform for band concerts, marching band, and winter guard.

Black Windbreaker Jacket

ONLY Jacket APPROVED to wear with uniform.

With Harrison Band Logo embroidered on back with free personalization on front.

Keeps students warm on chilly nights! Repels water on rainy days!

WHAT TO WEAR AT CONCERTS

Band class students will be fitted with a tuxedo or dress for the concerts performed by band classes. Instead of asking students to purchase these items, our program rents them and we also take care of dry cleaning at the end of the year, for $50/school year. These items are assigned to the student at the beginning of the semester and are kept through the school year unless band class is dropped in the second semester. These articles belong to the school and must be returned if class is dropped or at the end of the school year. If items are not returned the students account is subject to charges for the full amount of the items.

Students will also be asked to purchase accessories to go with tuxedos and dresses. Boys will need to purchase a black button down dress shirt ($20) and tie ($15). Girls will need to purchase pearls ($10). We also ask the students to have a HHS Band Polo ($25) to wear at less formal performances. These items purchased are owned by the student.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU NEED REQUIRED WEAR

The Room of Requirement is located down the band hall. Before Thursday practice, gloves and other items will be sold as needed.

Parents can purchase items through the Required Wear Online Orders (PayPal) on the Make a Payment page. Make sure to take a picture of your receipt and text it to your child to show to Room of Requirement to receive items. Cash is also accepted. Prices will be displayed on the Room of Requirement door. NOTE: PayPal prices include the convenience charge. 

Please encourage your child to have the items needed by Thursday’s practice. If your child is missing items, we can provide those items for your child but we will have to charge your account for that item.

NOTE TO RETURNING AND NEW MEMBERS: We cannot offer items to borrow.  Please help your child be responsible for their uniform items and items needed for practice. 

Have your child label their items so that if they are lost, they can be returned.

 

UNIFORM FITTING

During the summer, the Uniform Team will size your child for their uniform. This sizing will include shoe sizing, and confirming t shirt and shorts sizing. Freshman parents are encouraged to come to the fitting and ask questions. If you would like to be part of the uniform team, please contact RW or Uniforms. We would love to have your help!

Concert Wear is not part of the Required Wear or Uniform Team. Sizing for Tuxes and Gowns will be done when school begins during your child’s class.

Talk to the head of Concert Wear if you would like to volunteer to assist with sizing the students. It’s a great way to meet other parents!
