Latest Updates: 2020 Band Season

Last updated: Nov. 15, 2020; 9:30 am

Newest Updates Highlighted for three days.

Football Fridays

Football Game Band Participation. Remaining home games are scheduled Nov. 13 and Nov. 20. Band members should report between 6 and 6:30 pm on the back turf, however, directors may alter this due to other requirements. Students will be screened before being allowed to participate. Supplied band masks are highly encouraged and brass must have (supplied) bell covers. Please wear 2020 March On T-shirts, masks and coordinating shorts/slacks. Members also may wear approved band jackets and toboggans for cold weather. Toward the end of the game, students will contact parents to confirm pick-ups. Students must leave the school grounds immediately following the band’s return from the stadium. Please refer each week to any communications from band directors for the latest updates.

After-School Practice Reminders

Here are some tips and reminders for after-school practice now that many are back at school:

  • Students who are face-to-face should bring a snack to eat right after school.  Granola bars or fruit are excellent choices to give them energy for practice.
  • All students will need water so face-to-face students should plan ahead and pack an extra water bottle in their backpacks specifically for practice.
  • Students should bring a change of comfortable clothes, if needed.  Sneakers with thick socks are a must for marching. Watch the weather to see if a hoodie, sweatshirt or jacket may be needed.
  • Directors will share more information about how temperature screening will be conducted.  For now, students who are coming from home should expect a similar drop-off procedure as before unless told otherwise.

Fall Banquet Changes

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we will be unable to have a dedicated Fall Banquet. While we cannot have our Fall Banquet, we are looking at ways to recognize all those who have participated and especially those Seniors who have put so much in to our award winning Marching Band program. Keep watching the band website, social media, eblast and texts for more information and updates as we move through the rest of the Fall for any changes or announcements.

Band Rehearsal Instructions

Updated Medical Forms Required. Updated and notarized forms are due for all Marching Band participants on first day of in-person rehearsals. We will have a notary available on-site at the first rehearsal. Download and complete your form in advance, then bring the completed form to the first rehearsal.

Drop-off and Pick-up Instructions. There are special instructions for student drivers and for band member drop-off and pick-ups. Please familiarize yourself with these before traveling to rehearsal. Mr. Ray covers these instructions beginning at 24:40 of this video.

Arrival and Screening. Remember that each section has an assigned arrival time to allow for medical screening. See the current times here.
